JOURNALISM STUDENT RECEIVES PHILO FESTIVAL OF MEDIA ARTS AWARD - Stella Govitz, a junior in the School of Journalism at ComArtSci, loves storytelling. As an emerging journalist, she is honing her craft by recognizing the achievements of people in the MSU and mid-Michigan communities. But recently, Govitz was a bit surprised to learn her own achievements were being recognized as well.

GUPTA VALUES ETHICS LECTURE SERIES WITH CASSIDY HUTCHINSON

The Gupta Values Ethics Lecture Series was created to highlight individuals who personify the Gupta Values of integrity, human dignity and excellence. Because of my journalism background, I was asked to moderate a discussion with Cassidy Hutchinson, the assistant of former president Trump’s Chief of Staff. After the Jan. 6 insurrection, she testified against Trump. Alongside my co-moderator, I created questions, prepared for the event and interviewed Hutchinson on stage in front of 150+ attendees.


OFF THE RECORD: PERRY PARKS - ”Off the Record” is a human interest/feature podcast designed to dig deep and learn answers to questions that might otherwise be, well, off the record. It’s a show aiming to get to the heart of the story–and the subjects involved. This episode was with Michigan State University professor Perry Parks. He spoke about his research project centered around joy-based news values and whether artificial intelligence will affect the future of journalism.
